Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about sourcing facade materials through Trancky

Before You Submit Drawings

Do I need to provide full shop drawings?

No. For the free initial review, even hand sketches or photos of existing systems work. We need enough information to understand: (1) Wind load environment, (2) Material type (aluminum, glass, stone, etc.), (3) Approximate dimensions, and (4) Local code requirements (ASTM, EN, AS/NZS, etc.).

If you have CAD drawings, great. If not, describe your project in the submission form and we'll guide you on what we need.

How do you protect my design confidentiality?

All drawings are treated under strict NDA. We only share necessary fabrication details with factories after you approve the scope. Your architectural design, structural calculations, and project location remain confidential.

We never use your drawings for marketing or share them with competing projects. Factory audit reports are sanitized to remove client-identifying information.

What does your free technical review include?

Within 1-2 hours of analysis time, we provide:

  • Preliminary feasibility assessment (can we source this?)
  • Risk identification (potential spec conflicts or performance issues)
  • Ballpark budget range (if enough detail provided)
  • Recommended next steps (if you choose to proceed)

About Our Technical Review

What do you look for in the review?

Our checklist includes:

  • Wind Load Adequacy: Is the spec'd material thickness sufficient for the design wind pressure?
  • Thermal Performance: Will the assembly meet local U-value and condensation requirements?
  • Material Compatibility: Are sealants compatible with substrates? Will dissimilar metals cause galvanic corrosion?
  • Code Compliance: Does the spec match the correct test standard for your region (e.g., ASTM vs. EN vs. GB)?
  • Constructability: Can the details be fabricated within typical factory tolerances?
Can you help if I already have a factory?

Yes. Many clients hire us to audit their existing supplier. We verify:

  • • Is the quoted material formula actually what your spec requires?
  • • Does the factory have the right equipment and certifications?
  • • Are sample test results representative of production quality?

This is especially valuable if you're buying directly but lack technical expertise to verify specs.

How long does the review take?

Typical timeline:

  • Free Initial Review: 24 hours (often within 2 hours during GMT+8 business hours)
  • Full Technical Review: 2-3 business days (includes detailed calculations and material matching)
  • Factory Sourcing: 1-2 weeks (depends on how specialized the material is)

About Quality Control

How do you ensure ASTM compliance?

We verify compliance at three stages:

  • 1. Factory Qualification: Confirm they have equipment to meet test methods (e.g., ASTM D7091 coating thickness gauge)
  • 2. Sample Testing: Send samples to accredited third-party lab (e.g., NATA, CNAS) for full spec verification
  • 3. Production QC: On-site inspection during production using calibrated instruments to match the approved sample

We provide you with test certificates, inspection photos, and measurement data for each batch.

What happens if material fails inspection?

We reject non-conforming materials at the factory, not at your site. Our standard process:

  • • Immediate hold on shipment
  • • Document the defect with photos and measurements
  • • Request rework or replacement from factory (at their cost)
  • • Re-inspect after corrective action

You don't pay for defective materials. This is why on-site QC is critical.

Can I see a sample before bulk order?

Absolutely. We recommend it. Sample approval process:

  • 1. Factory Sample: We request production-line samples (not marketing samples)
  • 2. Lab Testing: Optional third-party testing for performance verification
  • 3. Client Sign-Off: You approve the sample before we place bulk order
  • 4. Production Match: Bulk production must match the approved sample (we verify this during QC)

Sample cost: Usually free or low cost. Shipping cost: You pay (typically $50-150 via DHL/FedEx).

About Logistics & Payment

Can you consolidate from different factories?

Yes. This is a major value-add. Typical facade projects require materials from 3-5 specialized factories (glass factory, aluminum factory, stone factory, sealant supplier, etc.).

We consolidate all into one shipment at our warehouse in Guangzhou, saving you:

  • • Multiple freight charges → Single container rate
  • • Multiple customs clearances → Single commercial invoice
  • • Coordination complexity → Single shipping contact
What are your payment terms?

Standard terms:

  • Sourcing Fee: Paid upfront or upon PO placement (if fixed fee model)
  • Material Cost: 30% deposit, 70% before shipment (standard Chinese factory terms)
  • QC Service: Paid before inspection date

Payment methods: T/T (wire transfer), PayPal (for small amounts), or L/C (for large orders).

We can also facilitate payment on your behalf and provide full transparency with factory invoices.

Do you handle customs clearance?

We handle export customs clearance from China (included in our service). You or your freight forwarder handle import clearance at destination.

We provide all necessary documents:

  • • Commercial invoice
  • • Packing list
  • • Bill of lading
  • • Test certificates (if required)
  • • Certificate of origin (if needed for tariff relief)

If you need help coordinating a freight forwarder, we can recommend trusted partners.
